Rothwell Town Council would like to update the community following the arrival of asylum seekers to Rothwell House Hotel.
As a Town Council, we received 5 days notice that the hotel was to house asylum seekers, an agreement between the hotel owner and the Home Office directly. This was and remains, despite the very best efforts of the Town Council, NNC and Philip Hollobone MP the only information that we have. We have requested additional information from the Home Office about those staying at the hotel, but this is yet to passed to us. Our understanding is that the Home Office and Serco are on site.
Councillors appreciate both the concern and anger expressed by the Community at the decision to use Rothwell however stress that to date no risks have been identified and no significant issues have been raised.
Rothwell Town Council will continue to work with NNC, Philip Hollobone MP and Northamptonshire Police to ensure both the safety of our community and that of the asylum seekers. Should any information come to light that we feel beneficial to share, we will endeavour to do this.
