Significant focus on Health and Wellbeing for 2025 - 2026
SIGNIFICANT FOCUS ON HEALTH & WELLBEING FOR 2025 – 2026
Rothwell Town Council is proud to unveil its budget for the 2025/26 financial year, with a significant focus on improving health and wellbeing for all residents. This progressive plan underscores the council’s commitment to fostering a healthier, happier community through strategic investment in facilities, programmes, and resources.
In recognising the sharp increase in deprivation within Rothwell following the announcement of the most recent Census data and liaising with key stakeholders; Rothwell Medical Centre, Montsaye Academy, Rothwell Schools, Rothwell Community Library and the local Churches, we agree we can achieve far more together to improve the health and wellbeing of our local population than we could do as individual organisations, making Rothwell a better place to live, work, and play.
To deliver this, Rothwell Town Council will recruit a dedicated Health & Wellbeing Officer to work with all stakeholder organisations to develop a strategy that records all the fantastic activities that already take place within the town and fill any gaps. The council hope that this will include access to a Food Larder, work with other voluntary organisations to enhance access to additional workshops and services and the creation of new groups to meet the needs of the entire population, all delivered within Rothwell.
Much of the work that has been started and continues to progress over recent years feeds into this overall strategy and therefore, we reassure residents that the council will continue in its quest to find an alternate funding provider to deliver on a brand new park for Greening Road, progress the Sports and Leisure facility planned for land off of Glendon Road and pursue other green space initiatives with local developers. Our mission is to deliver the most effective health and wellbeing services for the benefit of all.
Mayor Cllr Ash Davies expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming initiatives:
“The health and wellbeing of our residents are at the heart of this year’s budget. These initiatives reflect our commitment to building a stronger, more connected community where everyone can thrive.”
Residents are encouraged to participate in upcoming council meetings to learn more about these plans and share their feedback. Full details of the 2025/26 budget can be found on the Rothwell Town Council website at www.rothwelltowncouncil.gov.uk
