A little about me…

I am Ian Jelley and I am married to Sheila, and we have three grown up children, Marie, James and Samuel., and we have been married for 41 years. All of our children grew up and were educated in Rothwell Schools.

We moved to Rothwell in 1983 when my company re-located from Hertfordshire to Corby. We still live in the same house, and we love living in Rothwell. we really would not want to live anywhere else.

We love the heritage of the Town; the restaurants and the businesses, the Proclamation and the Fair, the history and the involvement of virtually everyone in these events, it really is a thriving community and we are very pleased to be part of it. And we have the country side on our doorstep.

I worked in the Aluminum and Steel industry for over 40 years, supplying coated products into the Caravan and Industrial buildings industries. I am now retired and concentrate my time in being a local Town and Borough Councillor. Something that I enjoy very much.

Why did I want to become a Councillor?

I was asked by Cllr Cedwien Brown if I would be prepared to stand as a Councillor in a by election in 2010, so I thought, yes that would be a good thing to do, I like to get involved in the Town, and you have the opportunity to help and support people, which is important for me, especially if they a have a problem that as a Councillor I am able to assist them with, then that is something that I wanted to be involved in.

I was elected to Rothwell Town Council in 2010 and in 2018 I had the great pleasure and Honour of being The Mayor of Rothwell. This was an amazing experience for me and my wife.

In 2011 I was elected to Kettering Borough Council, and have served as a Cabinet member with Portfolio's for Finance and the Environment.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, golf and Fishing.
