Councillor Karran Field
A little about me...
I am Karran, wife to David, between us we have 3 daughters Chelsea, Kim, River & granddaughter Evie. I also have my mum Julie, who has lots of good memories of people in the community past and present.
I come from Rowell and have lived here quite a bit of my life with good reason. I work for a local book publisher Igloo Books based in Sywell, I've been there 16 years and am their Publishing Operations Director. Through work I've had the opportunity to work with several charity, helping with fundraising and more recently with the National Literacy Trust, visiting schools promoting their reading programmes. I'm quite an organized, energetic, positive person, who turns jobs into games, and tries to keep smiling. When I'm not working, my favourite hobbies are eating, drinking and socializing. I love seeing people, whether it's my best mates or saying hi to people in the street or pub. I'm quite an adventurer when it comes to food and drink, I rarely say "no". Amongst friends, family and colleagues I'm know for my end of week "Shot Friday" to celebrate getting the week done and moving onto the weekend. Look out for a tall girl with big wild hair who say "me duck" quite a bit and its possible me….be kind 😊
Why I wanted to be a Councillor?
Because I'm a little bit daft?! I have Alan Mills to thank for this, he left such a lasting positive impact on us about how he approached his role as a councillor and importantly as a person. If I could do a tiny bit of that by having a go at this I would be happy. I'd like to try to help the town continue to be a lovely place to live, the only way to do that is to get the opportunity to listen to our community to find out what their priorities are. I think I may have some useful skills, so hence why I volunteered to help.
What Rothwell mean to me?
A LOT. It's mostly about the people, the people that say hi and smile, that help each other, that support each other. We are a community that comes together in good and bad, we've seen both many times, but when I see our generations gather and support each other, this is what I love the most about Rowell
We have a great town centre, with shops run by such hard-working people who care. The fabulous restaurants, pubs and bars, that offer a lovely and safe evening out for all (did I mention I love food!).
The backdrop to this is our beautiful buildings, such rich history that has been blended so well with progress and our future.
Is our town perfect? No, but I'm not sure that is possible, but together we can celebrate the good things, work together on fixing the bits that need our attention and get involved.
