Cllr Margaret Talbot
Ward - Trinity
I am a widow with 2 sons. one lives and works in Singapore and the younger son lives in Desborough.
I was elected to Rothwell Town Council in 2003. In 2008/9 I became Chairman and with my husband, David as Consort took part in the Rowell Fair Blessing after the Civic Service and the Proclamation. It is traditional that the Chairman judges the entries for the carnival parade, and I still support the charity, Rothwell Citizens Welfare.
At that time Rothwell Town Council organised the Christmas Gala Night and I took on the position of Treasurer only passing it to the Town Centre partnership, 3 years ago when they took on the organising of the gala.
I am retired so this gives me time to take part in the town's activities, charity coffee mornings, musical concerts at Holy Trinity church, former member of the board at the Heritage Centre, Treasurer of Rothwell United Charities, and supporter of the opening of the Salvation Army charity shop and their hall at the rear of the premises.
Since 2007, I was elected as a Kettering Borough Councillor for Rothwell. At present I am Chair for Licensing which deals with licences for alcohol, gambling, taxis and private hire vehicles.
I assist with resident requests and complaints to the relevant council or if required to the Member of Parliament.
