Rothwell Town Council Members

Rothwell Town Council are delighted to announce that in early October they were awarded Council of the year 2023 by Northamptonshire County Association of Local Councils (NCALC). Whilst a complete shock, this accolade acknowledges the hard work and commitment of not only the towns councillors in Rothwell but it’s Clerk too and recognises the exciting projects that are gradually coming to fruition within the town. Detailed below are comments that were made by Danny Moody, CEO of NCALC upon presentation of the award that we wanted to share with you.

“This Council has massively ramped up its activities to ‘contribute to the quality of life in its community’ over the past six years, and particularly in the past couple of years”

“As is always the case, a great council needs a great Clerk, and this council came on leaps and bounds from 2017 to 2021 until the then Clerk retired. Taking on a new Clerk is always a risky moment for a council but since its present Clerk came into post in 2021 the council hasn’t looked back. The Clerk has led the council to new heights and there is no sign of reaching a plateau anytime soon! In a little over two years this clerk has transformed the council again and achieved the CiLCA qualification on top of her their day job.”

“Of course, a great council also needs a great team of councillors, and this council has councillors with experience, skill and the determination to improve the quality of life in this community.”

“The council is developing a Neighbourhood Plan, looking at youth provision, assessing leisure facilities and possibility of associated asset transfer and engaging with the Unitary Council on Local Area Partnerships (LAPs) and are involved in the development of a vision for 2050”

Please keep an eye out for Edition 2 of our Community Newsletter early in 2024 that will contain further information about exciting developments for the town, it would however be a shame not to share a few…

  • New youth provision – Rothwell Youth Club relaunched on Tuesday 7th November 2023, supported by Rothwell Town Council and delivered in association with Clubs for Young People Northamptonshire
  • Advanced plans for a FULL redevelopment of Greening Road Park, 25% funded by Rothwell Town Council reserves and a project totalling £85 – £100,000
  • Have you seen our beautiful Remembrance themed memorial garden and in the springtime the wonderful Rowell Fair daffodils will bloom alongside additional work to make this a lovely feature of the town
  • Christmas events for all – Gala Night, Meet and Greet tea party with Santa and our now annual Christmas dinner for our older residents where we aim to ‘spread some Christmas cheer’
  • Ongoing work with the Local Area Partnership team from NNC to identify and enhance access to services within the town – starting with 2 minibus trips to Rushden Lakes for those residents that perhaps have no access to transport, friends/relatives nearby to help and support – again all funded by Rothwell Town Council
  • Finally, our brand-new Community Newsletter and very soon the launch of a much improved Town App

And there will be more…

Rothwell Town Council would like to take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers and community groups in and around the town whose contributions continue to make Rothwell a great place to live, work, shop and socialise… without them, much of the work that we deliver would not be possible!
