Theft of a vehicle or bike

Suggested subject line: Attempted theft of motorcycles in Rushton Road and New Street, Rothwell.

Dear Rothwell

We are appealing for information after attempts were made to steal motorcycles in Rushton road and New Street, Rothwell.

The theft occurred overnight on 14th/ 15th January 2023 (Saturday night) and the two locations are quite close together.

Did you witness anything? Did you see anyone or any vehicle(s) in the area that looked suspicious? If so, then please contact Northamptonshire Police on 101 quoting refs: 23000028529 and 23000029489 Alternatively you can report online here.

There are some simple but effective things you can do to help protect your motorcycle. If you own a motorcycle that you may not be using currently it is well worth a check to make sure it is being stored securely. Try to keep it out of sight where possible and securely anchored or chained.

Vehicle:

• Park your car in a garage or driveway if possible, or on a busy, well-lit road. Choose a ParkMark® accredited public car park wherever possible
• Physically check your central locking system has activated to ensure the signal hasn't been blocked and the car left unlocked
• Store keys for keyless entry cars in a RFID pouch or foil lined tin to block signal from scanners that will remotely unlock your car e.g Defender Signal Blocker

Bike:

Secure your bike by looping a cable lock through the front wheel and then through a Sold Secure® Gold standard D lock or chain. Then attach bike to a bike stand or immovable object with the lock Sold Secure - Security Product Testing & Approval

• Register details of your bike on the BikeRegister® national database. Look out for FREE police BikeRegister® cycle marking events to have your bike security marked
