Expansion of Fernbrook Bio
At last night's Strategic Planning meeting, the application for the expansion of the Fernbrook Bio facility on the A14 had been added to the agenda due, in part, to the objections raised by Rothwell Town Council and surrounding villages.
Ward Councillor for Rothwell and Mawsley and Rothwell Town Councillor Cllr Cedwien Brown registered to speak in order that the opinions of the town could be heard in an attempt to have the planning application refused. I attach the link to You Tube of the meeting that took place:

This planning application was unfortunately approved with a majority vote of one. However, at the meeting, Cllr Brown did have the opportunity to discuss with a Fernbrook Bio Director the issues that our town has experienced. They are very confident that the expansion will rectify the odour issue that they acknowledge we as a town have experienced for far too long. A full closure of the plant will enable the very latest in new, modern technology to be installed.
As a council we will watch and wait and rest assured, should the problem still exist once the expansion is complete, we will most definitely re-voice our concerns!
